Griffith Park Observatory; among other things

Wow I can't believe that its December already! Time is flying!! I actually already feel like I'm in the christmas spirit this year, probably the earliest I've felt it since I was a wee youngin. My housemates & myself painted our names on some stockings I got from the 99 cent store. They may be bootleg, but I love cheesy things such as this. And I loove how they look. Not to mention they were really fun to make. I can't wait to get the tree!!!!!

I was reviewing some photos I took of random things around my house when I came across this one, and I realized it looks exactly like a little mushroom. I love it!

Today was one of the most beautiful fall days I've seen in a long time. All the leaves are changing colors!! Josh, my friend Heather & I went up to the Griffith Park Observatory. This is by far, the most epic thing you can do in LA and most definitely my favorite thing to do. You could easily spend all day there, and still not see it all. Everything is free, parking, the museum, everything! Except the laser show, but thats only $7. Which is highly suggested! Photos:

Thanksgiving for two

This year Josh & I decided to have a nice quiet romantic thanksgiving at home. I made an apple pie, & Josh took care of the turkey. It was one of my favorite thanksgiving's I've ever had. I hope everyone had a lovely time eating, & enjoying the company of their loved ones!

Pot Luck!

Stephanie & I hosted a very successful pot luck at our place last night! I'm so happy everyone came! And with food & drinks no less! I dare say there may be another pot luck in the future...

Pot Lucks are great ideas if you wanna eat a lot of good food & dont have a lot of money to make it all. I make a pot roast for under $20, Stephanie made empanadas for under $50 (hers called for more ingredients than mine) Everyone brought an arrangement of things, from appetizers, side dishes, to deserts, & lots of wine!! I hope everyone had enough to eat, and I can't thank everyone enough for coming out, it was so much fun! Here's the photos.

Sweet Potatoes were my favorite!!! Thanks Holly, John & Mari!

Pasadena swap meet

I have never been to the Rose Bowl, for what I have been told is the most epic swap meet you could ever go to. So finally, FINALLY, I was able to go, (Thank You Anna!!!) and let me just say, I could not have been more thrilled. I got an old owl sculpture & cookie jar, and most importantly, an old school film camera. All for under $50.

So basically its $10 to enter, & once you're in, you may roam as you please. There are rows & rows, tent after tent of one mans trash & another mans treasure. There is a section of mostly furniture & odd trinkets, the other half is clothing, mostly vintage. Feel free to exercise your haggling capabilities, but don't do what I did, & go "WOW! 15 dollars! thats Cheap!!!" because than they know. And its pretty hard to back pedal that one. And here are the photos....

Prince Peter x Mick Rock

Photobucket

Tara invited me to go with her & the rest of her cast members for Styl'd to attend a collection release party at this bar called Guys & Dolls on Robertson. The collection features famed photographer Mick Rock. He did a lot of photos of bowie in the 70s, this being one of them. So amazing.

Photobucket

SS10 for Prince Pete x Mick Rock uses original photographs of famous icons, such as David Bowie and Syd Barrett. He had models dancing up above the seats wearing the new collection.

Zombify yourself!

Photobucket

Last night Josh & I went to see Paranormal Activity. I was a tad disappointed, but what can you do? And I slept just fine which sucks, I wanted to be scared. What do you think, if you've seen it? So Halloween is coming up! Can't figure out what we're gonna be yet. We've have been mulling over a few ideas but nothing's concrete.

In more exciting news, Ruubs & I bought our tickets for a tropical christmas & new year! Why do I have the best most amazing boyfriend of all time? Hawaii for two weeks, thats all I can think about. I can't wait to go out there with my camera & build the nature side of my portfolio.

Woo! Also, guys, if you didn't know, my friend Tara is gonna be famous. Watch her tv show on MTV Nov 1st. It's call Styl'd. Check out the website & trailer here. Don't worry, I'll be posting about this again.

I'm Happy

Hope you're happy too!

So I just realized I've had this blog for over a year. It's funny, thisfish is nothing like how it started... with an actual purpose, haha. No longer do I tell you tales of free or cheap things unless they coincide with something I want to post pictures of anyway. So I find it to be more than appropriate to ask you to enjoy a lengthy, frivolous post about nothing.

Myself & the roomies (ruubs & stooph) carved some pumpkins to get in the halloween spirit. I made John Lennon, he made the Lakers, & Stephanie carved a desert scene. I was sad when they became mutilated by mold in a matter of only four or five days.

Yet Another

Burton/Alien Workshop Roof Party. This time it was sponsored by Gravis & Analog so they had girls with fake boobs serving the beer. It was a beautiful day, one could not complain. Josh handled the grill, ensuring a perfectly roasted 'dog or burger. Josh takes food very seriously, you see. Anyway, lots of familiar faces & friends came through, & I guess I'd just like to say, thanks Burton & co, for delivering the good times.

Tahoe

Here's some pictures from my trip to Tahoe to visit a few siblings of mine who reside there. Laurie, & the Jibster. I'll most likely be posting more photos in the next week or two when I figure out this computer situation. Soon postings will become more frequent like back in the good ol' blogging days of thisfish.

Gypsy Land

So my friend Sam took me to this really cool vintage thrift store in Desert Hot Springs. I'd seriously have to say this is the best thrift store in all the land. They have amazing stuff, & its all dirt cheap. I got this cool rope owl thingy for 12 bucks. And they gave me crabs for free!!!! hah jk a crab pin. They have an array of inventory, clothing, knick knacks & furniture. Basically everything in between. Its worth the mish to get out there.

Check out their myspace link here.
